BOOK REVIEW #2

MORE THAN THIS by Jay McLean

Ratings: 4.5/5

Before my year ended, I was trying to catch up one more book.
I was on the go for a random book but with a genre of Romance or Young Adult. And then I come up with this book.

Reading a new book that you haven’t heard of from your friends or casually from some bookstagrammers is somewhat odd because you’re so foreign by the book and you don’t really know what to expect by it and at the same time, you don’t want to get disappointed at the end. So yes, this book is literally a stranger for me.

But with the help of Goodreads, I tried to look for some reviews regarding with the book because those reviews will surely be a great help.

So, why do I rate this book a 4.5?

(a bit of spoiling down there)

When I started the book with around two to four pages, I exactly feel that “maybe” just “maybe” I will gonna enjoy the book. Because you know, there are really some circumstances that when you just read the first page, you would feel that you think, you don’t want it. I continued to read the book and hoorah, I enjoyed it.

There was suddenly a shift of an unexpected situation from the book. Never thought that it will gonna happen just as fast as it could. And there were more heart breaking situations that Mikayla encountered that you can feel the skies turned to grey to black because the situations were truly devastating. I felt sad and I cried too with those scenes. I just definitely felt Mikayla’s emotions. And then there’s this guy that I added on my list of  my "fiction-guys-that-I-wanted-to-be-real-so-bad” named Jake Andrews. He is a true superhero of the book and I just loved how he handled the situations in behalf of Mikayla even though they just met for one night meaning they hardly even know each other. So yeah, there are really some good looking strangers worthy of your time. (you just have to look closely and deliberate whether he’s a dumbass or not).

Reading this book reminds me of Fifty Shades of Grey (a trilogy that I loved no matter what others would say) because of some sexual scenes. I didn’t expect it coming because I thought this book is just about hearts and merely love in a jar and not to go beyond. The author even give specific details about the happenings and sometimes I get annoyed because these scenes happens almost every day. Back when I was reading the whole trilogy of Fifty Shades, I seldom skipped reading the rated spg parts because it seems that they were just useless for me. I mean, no drama, no tragic things that happened or whatsoever (hahahahah). I directly go to the the conversation part and stuffs.

I’m not really good in giving a book review in regards with this book because I finished this book around three weeks ago and I think I forgot some details about it. The thought of this review is that I know I enjoyed reading it along the way and I cried at the same time. Just give it a try as well and hope you will love it as much as I do!

Its already 12:46am by the way and I’m tired and a bit of sleepy at the same because my family and I joined the procession for the feast of Sto. Nino. Pit Senyor Cebu!

Goodnight!
