“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
-H. Jackson Brown Jr.
Before the month ends and before I go back to my thesis errands, I took an adventure detour.
For today, I planned on going to Osmeña Peak. Been planning to climb this peak for several times already and it was always canceled. Finally, my wanderlust soul will witness its beauty.
My travel buddy and I are somewhat excited for the day. Both of us are first-timers in the place so it is a good thing.
Going there:
For bus transportations going to Osmeña Peak, Dalaguete has two options:
First, which is the well-known option:
Go to South Bus Terminal and ride a Ceres Liner that goes to Dalaguete. Ask the people around to be sure.
Go to South Bus Terminal and ride a Ceres Liner that goes to Dalaguete. Ask the people around to be sure.
Second, and is the better –to-go-option:
Go to USJR in Carbon and just a few steps, there is a Caltex gasoline station. You can see several non-aircon buses that are parked. This bus goes straight to Mantalongon Public Market of Dalaguete. In my opinion, this is a better option because the bus will head straight-wards to the market and you’ll gonna pay only 50 pesos for the motorcycle going to Osmeña Peak.
Unlike the first option, you will only be dropped at 7/11 in Dalaguete (highway area) and you will have to pay 100 pesos for the motorcycle going to the Peak.
Arriving at the vicinity, you need to pay 30 pesos for an entrance fee. If you want to have a tour guide, you will pay around 150 pesos.
As for this trip, we didn’t get one because I think it is more fun to have the way by yourself. To guide yourself is better though since you can just trace the foot tracks of the hikers at the peak.
Going to the peak is a 30-minute walk. It is just a smooth trek so people in all ages can climb it.
To be honest, trailing here is really good and refreshing. The view is excellent. The fresh air can be felt and with a cold temperature.
We arrived at the area at around 10am and the weather doesn’t bother.

The Scenery:
When we reached the peak, I thanked God for creating this beautiful creation.
As a city girl, everything amuses me- the view of Badian Islands, the amazing mountains, the healthy vegetation, the cool breeze, the fog, the sweet serenity and the Osmeña Peak itself.
It is always a good idea to hop around the province whenever you are stressed from work or school and maybe to get away from life.
Nature can really calm you down. Bring you to a resting dimension. It will always be my safe place.
Tourists came here to witness its magnificence. And, I tell you, it didn’t fail us and will never fail the tourists as well.
There are several peaks that can be seen, so I recommend you to climb 3 peaks or more to really appreciate the experience. Don’t just go for the one peak, always aim more. Achieve more. And that is when you can get to tap yourself for going a bit far.
Don’t mind getting lost, there is always a way.

Second Destination:
After climbing the Osmeña Peak, we headed back to the main highway to head for lunch.
Then we headed to the Dalaguete Beach Park. It is a well-known beach at the Dalaguete. Unfortunately, they have a closing time for visitors who won’t opt to overnight. They’re only until 6pm and you can open your tent at this beach park.
The place is clean and somewhat refreshing. This is also a good place to hang out as well.

My overall experience for this day is beyond happiness.
I get to visit another place far away from the city. With new experiences to cherish and with a new person.
I just want to thank him for being my constant photographer and for being with me throughout the day even though we had some serious conversations that led us to a bit of dilemma as a partner (haha)
I would really recommend this overall adventure to everyone and I will never get tired of going back there.
This is my first climb and it was a success. Thank you, God!
xoxo,
Lux ♥
